What is WindAlert?
WindAlert is a real-time wind and weather platform built for water sports enthusiasts. It aggregates data from weather beacons and sends you personalized alerts when conditions at your favorite spots match your preferences.
What sports does WindAlert support?
WindAlert is designed for any wind-dependent water sport including kiteboarding, windsurfing, sailing, surfing, and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding).
How often is weather data updated?
Weather data is fetched from external beacons every 5 minutes automatically. The 'Last Updated' timestamp on each location shows when data was last received.
How do alerts work?
You can set wind speed ranges and preferred wind directions for each location. When current conditions match your criteria, you'll receive a push notification (if enabled) and see it highlighted on your dashboard.
Can I change my wind speed units?
Yes! Go to Preferences and choose between knots, mph, km/h, or m/s. Temperature can be displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
How do I get push notifications?
When you first enable notifications, your browser will ask for permission. Once granted, WindAlert can send you alerts even when you're not on the site. You can manage this in your Preferences.
Do I need an invitation code to sign up?
During our early access period, an invitation code may be required. Contact an existing user or administrator for an invitation. You can also sign up without one and we'll add you to the waitlist.
Is WindAlert free?
WindAlert is currently free during our early access period. We may introduce premium features in the future.
